Requirements

You must be a resident of Berks County, PA, USA

All posts must be accompanied with at least three clear photographs.

Recipes must be written in a step by step concise form.

What am I doing?

I'm not a chef! I'm a crafter and homemaker and I don't have any formal training. The only training I have is watching tons of food network shows like 'Chopped'. I was inspired by the show 'The Big Waste' which starred 4 Celebrity chefs that were challenged to use things that were heading for the dump.

The problem was there was absolutely nothing wrong with the food! This show intrigued me and appalled me.

The amount of food that goes to waste in this country is a tragedy. I made a pledge to use what I have and not to be wasteful in the kitchen. It forces me to really think before running to the grocery store for every little thing. I am learning to substitute flavors, and really stretch my dollar in the process. My recipes include unconventional items, like sauce packets, and food mixes. I do this because sometimes we don't all have all the fancy ingredients. We need quick meals that don't break the bank.

I'm there with you... I make the staples in my home but I like to invent. Stay a while, try the recipes, comment, share.
